Research

My research centers on lived experience, relational process, and the conditions that allow people to feel more fully human within systems that often constrain them. I am primarily trained in qualitative methodologies, including phenomenology, interpretive and arts-based approaches, and relational inquiry. I am especially interested in how people make meaning in moments of transition, marginalization, creativity, and professional identity development.

I approach research as an ethical encounter rather than a neutral extraction of data. Interviews, journals, images, and reflective dialogue are not simply tools—they are relational spaces where participants’ voices, contexts, and embodied knowledge are honored. Across projects, I seek to elevate narratives that might otherwise be flattened by dominant frameworks and translate them into practical implications for counseling education, supervision, and advocacy.

At the same time, I value methodological pluralism and collaborative scholarship. I engage mixed methods designs when they allow for a more comprehensive understanding of complex phenomena, integrating quantitative indicators with qualitative depth to examine patterns alongside lived meaning. I enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams where diverse epistemologies strengthen rigor and creativity.

In collaborative settings, I often contribute qualitative design, conceptual framing, and theory integration, while learning from colleagues with strengths in statistics, measurement, or implementation science. My overarching goal is to produce research that is methodologically sound, relationally attuned, and usable—work that not only contributes to scholarly conversations but also supports counselors, educators, and communities in tangible ways.
